Dr. Suzanne Smith – President

Dr. Suzanne Smith is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.  She Received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Wellesley College in Massachusetts.  Dr. Smith has been involved in the veterinary community as a former President of the NJ Veterinary Medical Association.  She founded the New JerseyAnimal Hall of Fame.  She has served as Chair of the NJ University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Society and she served several years on their Admission Committee.  Additionally, Dr. Smith has serves in the past on committees of the American Association of Equine Practitioners. Dr. Smith was a member of NJ Governor’s Lyme Disease Advisory Committee.  She served several terms of the Executive Board of Mane Stream, a therapeutic riding center, in Oldwick, NJ. Dr. Smith has spent the last ten years involved in NAVS (Native American Veterinary Services) as a veterinary volunteer on several of the poorer reservations in the Southwest performing surgical procedures and providing veterinary care for horses and small animals. As part of her efforts in NAVS she dedicated time mentoring and teaching veterinary and pre-veterinary students in New Mexico and Arizona.

Dr. Francie Rubin – Vice President

Francie Rubin began her career as a veterinary technician in 1974, knowing that her passion for animal care and welfare would only be realized by becoming a veterinarian. In 1989 she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. After starting her own practice in 1994, Dr. Rubin enrolled in and completed Dr. Richard Pitcairn’s Professional Course in Veterinary Homeopathy.

In 1994, Dr. Rubin founded Rockledge Veterinary Clinic in a small building on Sylvania Avenue. In 2003, she purchased “that old house behind the trees” on Huntingdon Pike and, while keeping the integrity of the original Victorian structure, turned it into a modern veterinary clinic.

Twice a year, Dr. Rubin travels to Arizona and New Mexico with a group of veterinarians who donate their time to spay, neuter, vaccinate and provide veterinary care to the pets of Native Americans. She finds this opportunity to give back extremely fulfilling.

Dr. Ted Robinson – Founder & President Emeritus

Dr. Ted Robinson started NAVS in 2001. He has been involved in the Delaware Valley Academy of Veterinary Medicine since its inception, and currently serves on the Board of Directors, bringing additional veterinary education on a wide variety of topics to southeastern Pennsylvania.
